Finding Joy in Simple Pleasures
Day 27 Star Struck
Simple Pleasure: A starry night.
What can compare to the beauty of a blue-black sky dotted with millions of points of light? The depth of the sky and its innumerable constellations create a beauty that is simultaneously simplistic and complex. I remember the first time I saw a star filled sky; I was in awe. Growing up in an Ohio city whose skies were often clouded over with the exhaust of steel mills and factories, star sightings were rare. What I saw in a starry Georgia night sky so many years ago changed my life.
I saw the infiniteness of His creation in contrast to my finiteness. I felt God’s love through that beautiful night sky and a deep knowing that He truly will never leave or forsake me. It was both a real and surreal experience for me. I had only imagined seeing stars like that.
Perhaps you have grown up always seeing star filled skies, but for a moment try to recall the very first time you viewed one. Now, consider what a simple pleasure it truly is.
Divine Thought: God is the Creator of the entire universe and is intimately concerned with you.
“I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works and that my soul knoweth right well.” (King James Version, Psalm 139:14)
