In this Covenant of Protection series, we’ve discussed verses one (1) through twelve (12) and are now looking at the final verses thirteen (13) through (16):
"Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.
Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation." (Psalm 91:13-16, King James Version)
In these verses we learn that we have dominion over the lion and the adder and serpent (symbolic of wicked men and the enemy). God is always with us, during trouble - we call out to Him, and He will answer and deliver us out of the trouble. He will give us a long life and we will enjoy His salvation (deliverance, welfare, prosperity) here on this earth.
We can be confident in the covenant God has made with us when we fully understand it; that should give us comfort and hope in troubling times.
Psalm 91 gives me courage and hope. I pray that as you continue to become rooted in these precious promises from God, you too will walk in courage and hope in your Covenant of Protection.
