Joneen Horton - witty, articulate, intelligent, uncompromisingly powerful woman of God. Joneen is the founder of Divine Image, an online ministry (http://www.DivineImage.org) dedicated to edifying, equipping and encouraging women to live as a Divine Image.
Divine (adj.): Proceeding directly from God, Image (noun): exact likeness.
Since its inception in May 2005, DivineImage.org, has impacted the lives of over 27,000 women for the Kingdom of God. Through a no-nonsense teaching of the Gospel, Joneen has ministered to women in over 19 countries, including the United States, China, Russia, Spain and the United Kingdom.
Conference speaker and best-selling author, Joneen is known for her practical application of biblical principals and has encouraged thousands to pursue a personal relationship with God. Joneen is dedicated to teaching women that God has created each of us in His image and for His purpose. Through biblical based teachings she candidly and practically discusses her life (the good, bad and the ugly) and lessons she has learned from God to encourage others. Joneen boldly declares to women; "You are a Divine Image, created to be just like your Father and fulfill His purpose!"
Growing up in Cleveland, Ohio, the third of four children and the only girl, Joneen always had a fascination with image. Joneen states; "I can still remember outfits I had at age 2 and having a tantrum at age 3 because I wanted a pair of purple pants!" "For many years, I wanted to be like the women I saw around me. Women who wore the latest fashions and had flawlessly applied makeup. Women who, it seemed, had everything together career, love life and beauty. So I began to pursue that "image of woman" I saw around me… Now, after several years, I understand. I could never achieve that "image of woman" or help others to achieve it until I understood that we already are a Divine Image."
Joneen moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 1994. Studying the Word of God under her former Pastors, Dr. Creflo A. and Taffi L. Dollar, God's vision for her life began to unfold. Joneen is further discovering the call of God on her life as she sits under the tutelage of Pastors Michael T. and Connie M. Smith. Joneen has passionately served in ministry over 10 years sharing the Gospel with women incarcerated in jails and prisons, at a local Crisis Pregnancy Center and via the internet. Through her time serving in ministry she has honed her skills in teaching and training and has experienced greater revelation of her spiritual gifts. In 2004, during a time in prayer, God spoke to Joneen and instructed her to build a website. With no further instructions and no knowledge of how to proceed, she put the Word aside thinking "surely, I misheard." Later in that same year while she and her family were relocating to a new home, Joneen made a discovery. She found a binder full of research regarding websites she had done five years previously!
God had prepared Joneen, yet the birth of Divine Image was not an easy one. Joneen states; "I tried to explain to God that I was not equipped to create and maintain a website. I gave Him a list of reasons why I could not do what He was asking. I argued that financially I couldn't afford it (didn't He know about that bankruptcy filing?), I reminded Him that I had a newborn son and therefore did not have any time." Realizing that God was not moved by her excuses, Joneen accepted her assignment. Witnessing what God is doing through Divine Image and in her personal life, has motivated Joneen to faithfully seek and obey God no matter what obstacles arise.
In Joneen's most recent book, Journey to Restoration: Healing for the Post-Abortive Woman, Joneen candidly discusses her own past abortion in order to aid others in walking in forgiveness and restoration from God. Biblically based discussions take the reader from hopelessness to abounding joy! With the upcoming launch of her latest book, Divine Image, Joneen is poised to impact more lives world wide.
Joneen's professional career has spanned 19 years to include retail, image consulting and various successful entrepreneurial endeavors. Joneen has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fashion Merchandising from Adrian College in Adrian, Michigan.
Joneen, and her husband Shawn, reside in a suburb of Atlanta, Georgia and are the parents of two sons.
