Looking for the Hand of God

By Joneen M. Horton
God is intimately and intricately involved in our daily lives. He'll be there to give you hope, peace, deliverance - whatever you need in that moment.

I enjoy times of relaxation, just to clear my mind and enjoy the moment at hand. Several years ago, while getting a massage, I heard; “look for the hand of God in everything you do."

God is intimately and intricately involved in our daily lives. Proverbs 3:5-6, King James Version, reads; “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Hearing that simple phrase: “look for the hand of God in everything you do" gave me a way to put my faith in action.

If I just look for His hand and acknowledge Him in all things, I get lots of little “gifts” throughout the day. Tangible examples that He is with me.

For example, I was having a tough day; dealing with a physical ailment and missing my brother who had passed away a year earlier.  I was praying, thanking God for my healing, asking Him for clarity and was talking about how I missed my brother here with me.  I remembered a song my brother liked and as I was singing it, I felt closer to him in that moment.

A text came in a little later from a friend, the first sentence said; “I was thinking of you and your brother today…”  It went on to explain what the Lord shared with her regarding my brother and me.  I hadn’t spoken to my friend; she had no idea what was going on with me. I immediately began to thank and praise God. In this moment, I saw the hand of God.

Now you may be asking, how did we get from a massage to a text message?  Let me explain.  The word I heard “look for the hand of God in everything you do”; became my faith in action key.  My reminder to press pause and look for Him, because in every situation and circumstance He is there because He promised to never leave or forsake us.  He sent His Spirit to dwell within us. He made us His Divine Image. As I look for Him, I find Him and that keeps me anchored in Him and His word.

I encourage you to do the same. Look for His hand in everything you do because you will find Him. He’ll be there to give you hope, peace deliverance – whatever you need in that moment.
