Covenant of Protection II

By Joneen M. Horton
God has assigned His angels to watchfully guard and protect us. Disaster and destruction can break out all around, yet in the midst of that, we are hidden away

In Covenant of Protection, we began by looking at verses one (1) through six (6) which are rich in God’s promises. Let’s continue in part two with verses seven (7) through (12).

"A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.

Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.

Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;

There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.

For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.

They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone." (Psalm 91:7-12, King James Version)

I am reminded of a time many years ago, when I received a letter from our security monitoring company stating that we had not registered our alarm system with the local police department and in the event of an emergency they may not respond.

That same evening, our alarm was tripped, and it took longer than average to turn it off; after about 15 minutes there was a knock at the door at it was the local police. Look, I can’t even lie, we were scared!  It ended well, but for the rest of the night I was gripped with fear. As I slept, I had a dream of our entire property being encircled by angelic bodies that stood at least 20 feet tall, shoulder to shoulder swords drawn, leaning forward towards our home.  I am fully persuaded that God was showing me what my Covenant of Protection gives me.

Psalm 91 is part of my daily prayer and when I am in a situation that looks or feels dangerous, I began to say: “no evil will befall me, God has given His angels charge over me to keep me in all my ways, even if I dash my foot on a stone, they bear me up in their hands.”

God has assigned His angels to watchfully guard and protect us.  Disaster and destruction can break out all around, yet amid that, we are hidden away, safe with God (See Psalm 91:9).

As you exercise practical application of biblical principles, through meditating, praying, reading and confessing the Word it emboldens your belief, keeps your soul anchored in Him when the world around you is chaotic and allows you to rest in His covenant promises to you.  Allow your faith to work and your fear to be silenced by knowing your Covenant of Protection.
